The February Chamber Luncheon was held at Boulders Inn. We had a great turnout with 31 people in attendance. Thanks to the staff at Boulders for all their accommodations. It's a very nice place to have a business luncheon and they always do such a nice job of getting it all set up for us.
Papa's Pizzeria served the food, and what a great lunch!! It was Spaghetti, Macaroni & Cheese, Fettucini Alfredo with Chicken, breadsticks, a great salad, and beverages. Thank you "Papa" Shawn Comer for all your efforts on the lunch. Thanks to everyone for your RSVP's prior to the luncheon. It really helps to plan appropriately.
David Kyle from Wolf Creek Technology was our scheduled speaker but had an emergency come up (or actually a blessing) and was unable to be there today. Congratulations to David, his daughter, and their whole family on the birth of a beautiful baby girl. We will reschedule David for another opportunity in the near future.
We were able to use the unplanned extra time to go around the room and have each person introduce themselves, and give a little 'plug' for their business. For anyone who is new or hasn't attended the luncheon in the past, it was a great chance to put names, faces, and businesses together. (and a moment of 'free' advertising for their business).
There was also an open discussion where input was invited from all the members to voice their thoughts and ideas about how the 2017 Polk City Chamber can be more helpful to the local businesses, add or enhance benefits to the businesses, or make networking opportunities more available. It was a good discussion and we, the Board and Staff of the Chamber, would like to encourage everyone to continue to provide your input at any time.
A recurring topic from this discussion was related to maximizing the offerings from the Greater Des Moines Partnership. (Chamber President) Desiree Pliler and (Chamber Director) Sheila Mahan will be participating in more organized discussions and meetings to deliver what you are looking for. Watch the calendar on our website at http://polkcitychamber.com for upcoming events that will be available for Polk City Chamber of Commerce members to attend.
Thanks to everyone that attended and supports the Polk City Chamber. We look forward to seeing you in March.
